Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 2 cups sliced fresh strawberries
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x9 inch square baking dish.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add in the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add in the flour mixture and the milk, alternating between the two and mixing until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth out the top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Let the cake cool completely.
- In a medium bowl, beat the heavy cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
- To assemble the strawberry jar cakes, start by placing a spoonful of the whipped cream on the bottom of a mason jar. Add a layer of sliced strawberries, then a layer of cake. Repeat until you reach the top of the jar, ending with a final layer of whipped cream.
